Respectable Sins

Jerry Bridges

About This Book

Whatever happened to sin? Have Christians become so preoccupied with major sins that we have lost sight of our need to deal with more subtle sins? Jerry Bridges addresses the acceptable sins that we tend to tolerate in ourselves–such as jealousy, anger, pride, unthankfulness, and judgmentalism. Jerry writes not from a height of spiritual accomplishment but from the treches of his own battles with sin. In his admonitions, Jerry offers a message of hope in the profound mercy of the gospel and the transforming grace of God as the means to overcome our subtle sins. We also have a companion discussion guide available separately.

Outstanding convicting study highlighting the sins we tolerate in our lives. I liked it so much I did it twice. Chapters typically take around an hour to read with leader prep time taking another hour. Easy to get the group talking.

Highly recommend this to all small groups. Very convicting and generated a lot of great conversation. Great reminder of how big our crosses truly are.

This book was challenging, had practical application and provoked meaningful discussion within our group. We used the small-group curriculum version of this book that was organized into sessions including the text with discussion questions. Many group members said this was their favorite book we’ve studied thus far. Highly recommend!
