Crossing Students
Growing Faith Through Relationships
What We're About
To move the hearts and minds of more students to believe that Jesus is more
Crossing Students strives to create a community that students want to be a part of – a community that encourages genuine Christian friendships and engages God’s truth in a relevant way. We want our Sunday mornings, small groups, and events to be places that are welcoming to anyone – students who are strong and mature in their faith that want to grow deeper as well as students who are not sure what they believe and want a place to ask questions and get honest, humble answers. Sunday Mornings
In this staff-led 8:20am class, students will work through various books of the Bible while learning techniques for deeper study and faithful application. This class is geared to all kinds of students, whether they are new to the Bible or experienced and wanting to grow in their ability to analyze biblical passages. Donuts and coffee will be provided. Meet us in Room 320 in the Student Center.
If you have any questions, please email Brooke Bassett or James Bachman.
573
All 9th through 12th graders in the 573 area are invited to gather for a weekly time of worship, a talk by a staff member, and small group time with their leaders every Sunday night, from 6-8pm, in The Crossing Student Center. This is not a replacement for attending The Crossing’s main church services on Sunday mornings, as we encourage high school students to attend the worship service with their friends or family on Sunday mornings primarily. We’d love to get your student connected with a group when they come to 573, if interested. Dinner provided.
If you are interested in getting involved, email James Bachman or Brooke Bassett.
Ministry Partnerships
We believe that God’s grace equips and empowers students to be a part of his kingdom mission in our church, community, and world. As a ministry focused on equipping students to participate in God’s mission, we are fortunate to connect students to a life of ministry through several community partnerships. One of our ongoing partnerships is with Woodhaven—a local organization that supports and advocates for adults with disabilities. More ministry connections include partnerships with Crossing Kids, the city-wide initiative of ForColumbia, and other opportunities that present themselves throughout the year.
Sunday Mornings
Middle School offers classes at our first (8:20) service. On Sundays we teach the Bible in relevant ways to middle schoolers in a fun and relational environment around tables with discussion. Sundays are a great time for a new student to try out the class and meet staff members. Donuts and bagels will be provided. Meet us at the Welcome Table in the Student Center.
If you have any questions, please email Anna West or Caleb Grimm.
Think Tank
Please contact Anna West or Caleb Grimm with questions or interest.
1. Gospel Centered
The Crossing Students Team is committed to not simply preaching morals, but to preaching the Gospel of Grace. The Bible does have commands to be obeyed, but when it is reduced to a list of dos and don’ts the core message has been lost. We don’t seek to simply produce “good kids” but disciples of Jesus.
2. Biblically Founded
The underlying foundation of everything at The Crossing and at Crossing Students is the Bible. We believe it is the authoritative Word of God and that it is our “daily bread” which we need more than food, even if we don’t realize it. Therefore, every class, bible study, book discussion, leader meeting, and small group is both rooted in and focused on God’s Word.
3. Relationship Focused
Evangelism and discipleship are both most fruitfully carried out within the context of genuine relationships. Everything we do, from small groups to Sunday mornings to special events, are designed to promote honest and growing relationships between students and students, and students and leaders.
4. Parent Partnered
As important as it is for your student to be involved in a ministry and a church, we’re convinced the most impactful spiritual influences any teenager has is his or her parents. Crossing Students aim to partner with parents and families, and as such The Crossing offers regular Legacy Classes to inform and help families. Additionally, we welcome feedback, criticism, and communication with both students and parents.
