Crossing Men’s Bible Study: Revelation
Mon, March 1, 2021
Date
6:00pm
Time
Who is the antichrist? How will the world end? Many people find the book of Revelation intimidating, or just plain confusing. And yet the central message of the final book is both clear and simple. Like the first readers of Revelation, we are faced with the threat and seductions of the world around us. God wants to show us that, despite everything that is wrong with the world and in our churches, he remains in control. And when we see history, our present, and our future from heaven's perspective, it will encourage us to trust God and remain faithful to the end. Join Shay Roush and Greg Early as they lead this in person class on either Monday nights or Friday mornings. Sign up using the links below. This class is free.

Tue, March 2, 2021
Date
9:30am
Time
Tuesdays, Feb. 9–Apr. 6, 9:30–11 a.m.
A Gentle Answer: Our 'Secret Weapon' in a Age of Us Against Them by Scott Sauls
In a defensive and divided era, how can followers of Jesus reveal a better way of living, one that loves others as God loves us? How can Christians be the kind of people who are known, as Proverbs puts it, to "turn away wrath?" Scott Sauls' compelling new book shows Christians how to become people of "a gentle answer" in a politically, relationally, and culturally fractured world by helping readers:
- grow in affection for Christ, who answers our hostility with gentleness;
- nurture a renewed, softened heart in light of Christ's gentleness toward us;
- and catch a vision to forsake us-against-them mentalities, put down our swords, and "infect" a hostile world with gentleness.

Jude: Contending for the Faith in Today’s Culture by Jackie Hill Perry, with Dee Dee Crosby
While often overlooked, the Book of Jude remains as relevant today as the time it was written. God has commanded his beloved church to do the necessary work of contending for the faith in a world of unbelief, and as we do, he will keep us from falling into the same deception. Using a study by Jackie Hill Perry, we’ll dive into themes of being called, loved, kept, and learn how to point others to Jesus in grace and truth. We serve others well when we share the whole gospel with them, not just the parts deemed attractive by our culture.

Steadfast: A Devotional Bible Study on the Book of James by Courtney Doctor
Faithfulness regardless of our circumstances. That’s what it means to be steadfast. But in a world where so much can undermine our faith or pull us off track, steadfastness is often a rare and elusive trait. James longs for his readers to be steadfast. His letter meets us in our suffering and sickness, our trials and temptations, our wealth and poverty, our ups and downs. He confronts our sin, our speech, and our pride. He encourages believers to have a more resilient and concrete faith: not just to hear the word, but to do it. He calls us to persevere in truth in a world of lies, and to see that God’s steadfast love is ultimately the source of our steadfast faith. We need biblical wisdom if we are to stay the course and be steadfast. The book of James provides this wisdom, and Steadfast will help you apply it.

Rediscovering Jonah: The Secret of God’s Mercy by Tim Keller
The story of Jonah is one of the most well-known parables in the Bible. It is also one of the most misunderstood. In Rediscovering Jonah, pastor and author Tim Keller reveals there's much more to Jonah's story than most of us realize. Keller makes the case that Jonah was one of the worst prophets in the entire Bible. And yet there are unmistakably clear connections between Jonah, the prodigal son, and Jesus. How could one of the most defiant and disobedient prophets in the Bible be compared to Jesus? Jonah's journey also doesn't end when he’s freed from the belly of the fish. There’s an entire second half to his story—but it’s left unresolved within the text of the Bible. Why does the book of Jonah end on what is essentially a cliffhanger? We’ll explore the answer to the extraordinary conclusion of this biblical parable—and the powerful message at the heart of Jonah's story.

Faithfulness in the Unknown: Acts 1-7, with Crossing Pastor Ryan Wampler
2020 threw all of our lives up in the air. It was hard to make plans for the next season, much less the next week or even days! What does being faithful to God look like and feel like when so much is unknown? Acts 1-7 paints a picture for us of this very thing. We have a tendency to read the history of the early Christians as if they knew how events would all turn out as they trusted God. But, what did it really feel like to be faithful when so much was unknown to them? Join us as we try to draw encouragement from the early church for our own times.

Thursdays, Feb. 11–Mar. 11, 6–7:30 p.m.
Surprised by Paradox: The Promise of “And” in an Either-Or-World by Jen Pollock Michel, with Emily Pilkington
In our current cultural moment, the idea of holding two ideas in tension feels like a lost art. Tribalism demands that we choose and defend one option in an either/or statement. We often prefer to distill complex ideas into over-simplified statements leaving little room for nuance, listening, or the both/and of paradox.
In this five-week class, we’ll discuss Surprised by Paradox by Jen Pollock Michel and look for places that God calls his people to the hard work of wrestling with "and". We’ll spend special focused time studying the following paradoxes found in Scripture: the Incarnation, the Kingdom of God, Grace, and Lament.

A Gentle Answer: Our 'Secret Weapon' in a Age of Us Against Them by Scott Sauls

How can Christians be the kind of people who are known, as Proverbs puts it, to "turn away wrath?" Scott Sauls' compelling new book shows Christians how to become people of "a gentle answer" in a politically, relationally, and culturally fractured world by helping readers:
- grow in affection for Christ, who answers our hostility with gentleness;
- nurture a renewed, softened heart in light of Christ's gentleness toward us;
- and catch a vision to forsake us-against-them mentalities, put down our swords, and "infect" a hostile world with gentleness.

WBS Wed PM – Rediscovering Jonah (Onsite)
Wed, March 10, 2021
Date
6:00pm
Time
Wednesdays, Feb. 10–Apr. 7, 6–8 p.m.

6:00pm
Time
Thursdays, Feb. 11–Apr. 22, 6–8 p.m.

WBS Thurs PM – Surprised by Paradox (Onsite)
Thu, March 11, 2021
Date
6:00pm
Time
Thursdays, Feb.
