Posted on June 3, 2020September 3, 2020

You probably know the name Eliah Drinkwitz for football, but what about for faith? In interviews, press conferences, and on Twitter, Mizzou football’s new head coach doesn’t shy away from the fact that he’s a devout follower of Christ. In this post, we’ve compiled five quotes on faith from Coach Drinkwitz. M-I-Z!

If you’d like to hear more from Coach Drinkwitz on his faith, be sure to listen to our recent interview, “A Chat with Coach Drinkwitz,” below.

1. “My prayer today, ‘Jesus, More of You and less of me’”

2. “I must start by thanking my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Without him, I would have no purpose in life and he has given me my direction.”

3. “Faith not fear, Hope not worry!”

4. “Really the only thing I can even say about my ability to be the youngest head coach in the SEC is ‘Commit your ways to the Lord and he’ll establish your plans.’ And that’s really what I’ve done is just say, ‘Lord, this is really yours. Whatever you want to do with it, I’m open to it.’”

5. “I pray for Justice. I pray for the courage to stand for what is right. I pray for the end of hate [i]n our country. I pray for those hurting, and afraid. I pray that we see the NEED FOR CHANGE 🙏”

As long as he keeps his faith-based beliefs out of the public arena, fine. Using them around players/students of diverse belief backgrounds and at a public institution supported by all of our taxes, would be insensitive and, really, unconstitutional.
