Women's Ministry Questions & Policies
We’re so glad that you are going to be part of a Women’s Ministry Bible Study. This guide contains answers to our most frequently asked questions. We hope it's of help to you.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Who should participate in Women's Bible Studies?
The Bible studies offered each year are carefully selected based on many criteria, including relevance to the lives of women who attend. In order for women to share openly about what is going on in their lives we ask that only adult women (18 and above) attend. We encourage teenagers to become involved in our Student ministry. If you have a unique situation and aren't sure where you fit in, please email Women's Ministry.
2. Why does The Crossing charge fees to attend a Bible study?
As you can imagine there are a lot of expenses to running a quality Women’s Ministry.
Basically your fee helps cover many expenses:
The cost of participant books and videos (books cost between $12–$18 depending on the study)
Training materials for leaders
Printing costs for brochures/events etc.
Book/study research for studies to be offered in the future
Some scholarships
The Crossing graciously covers most of our big expenses:
Childcare fees
Pizza offered Wednesday Night
Coffee for Tuesday morning
Additional scholarships
Costs not covered from fees collected from Women’s Ministry Conferences and Events (our goal is to keep fees as low as possible to not prohibit ladies from attending)
Occasionally some studies don’t purchase a book. In order to simplify the registration process and not charge differing fees we’ve kept one payment amount. We realize that not all women are able to pay fees and gladly offer scholarships.
Thank you for participating in helping us offer a quality Women’s Ministry!
3. What is the weather/holiday cancellation policy?
We follow the Columbia Public School cancellation policy. If public schools are cancelled, then Bible studies are cancelled. We will also post cancellations on our homepage.
4. What if I'm bringing children other than my own to Bible study?
Our desire is for all moms to be able to participate and grow spiritually by being involved in our weekly Bible studies. We want this to include those of you who are employed as caregivers during the week. However, we need to cover the cost of sitters and resources required to accommodate the extra children that are brought. Because of this added expense, there is an additional $10 per child fee for children not your own, to be paid at the time of registration. For questions regarding this policy please email Molly Cover or call 256-4410 x240.
5. Can my children stay for the Seeds of Promise children’s program if I'm not there?
In order for children to take part in our Tuesday morning Seeds of Promise, moms must be present in a women’s Bible study. This is needed to ensure the safety of the children should we need to get in contact with you for any reason that morning.

How to Get the Most Out of Your Bible Study
We want you to have a great time sharing and connecting in your study. Below are some general guidelines that help to ensure an enjoyable group experience.
1. Sharing - We would love for everyone to feel comfortable sharing. So, if you tend to talk a lot, consider holding back some of the time to allow others to share. If you tend to not speak up, push yourself to share one or two thoughts.
2. Advice - Refrain from giving advice unless it’s asked for. Women often just want a safe place to share what’s going on and not necessarily a “solution” to fix it. If you do want advice for your particular situation, please alert your group by asking for it.
3. Confidentiality - What is said in the group stays in the group. This helps build trust among all the members.
4. Babies - New babies are welcome in the individual study rooms. We ask that if they are making noise (crying or even happy cooing) that you please leave the room to be sensitive towards the other members of the group.
