Nathan Tiemeyer

Teaching Pastor
Influences: In no particular order: William Shakespeare, J. R. R. Tolkien, C. S. Lewis, Francis Schaeffer, Professor Jerram Barrs and the rest of Covenant Theological Seminary, D. A. Carson, my wife and parents, U2, Spider-Man, my high school football coach.
Epic Moments: My first U2 concert, asking my wife to marry me even though we weren’t going out at the time (and therefore not being sure what she’d say), the birth of our son and changing my first diaper successfully, witnessing Mizzou beat KU at Arrowhead Stadium in 2007, the constant thrill of knowing Keith Simon.
Education: BA’s in English and Communication from the University of Missouri; MDiv from Covenant Theological Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri.
Favorite Bands/Music: U2, Coldplay, Bruce Springsteen, and a lot of other stuff.
Best Inventions: The three major American sports, The Internet, and Google.
Favorite Books: The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien, Surprised by Joy and The Weight of Glory by C. S. Lewis, and The God Who is There by Francis Schaeffer.
Favorite Movies: Keeping in mind that “favorite” and “best” don’t always overlap: the cultural event that is the first Star Wars trilogy, The Godfather, Henry V, This is Spinal Tap, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, About a Boy, Saving Private Ryan, The Incredibles, School of Rock, Stranger Than Fiction, and believe it or not, the latest version of Pride and Prejudice.
Favorite Shows: Lost, Sportscenter, Heroes, Hardball with Chris Matthews.
Spare Time: Working out, playing and watching sports, reading, reading, reading, good movies.
Fear Factors: Heights without railings, public embarrassment.
Biggest Frustrations: Never having as much time as I’d like, problems with technology, the seeming epidemic of people not flushing the toilet in public restrooms, poorly parked cars.
Passions: Understanding and teaching biblical truth as it touches upon all of life, sharing the gospel in a winsome and respectful manner, attempting to do (most) things with excellence, remaining a dedicated fan of Mizzou football and basketball, as well as the Kansas City Chiefs and (despite the constant persecution I receive) Royals.
Motivation: To borrow a phrase: “To glorify God and enjoy him forever.”
Personal Motto: I’d rather not say...
