Separation & Divorce Ministries

Don't go it alone! Separation and divorce are some of the most devastating, life-altering events anyone can endure, and we were not meant to struggle through it all on our own. If one of the options listed below does not help answer the immediate need you are experiencing, you might also consider looking at The Crossing's Biblical Counseling choices. Whatever you decide, it is our prayer for those experiencing the breakup of their home to seek help and support somewhere.  Opportunities at The Crossing include:

DivorceCare is a 13-week seminar created by Church Initiative, a non-profit organization that specializes in equipping churches to minister to those in pain and grief. DivorceCare is specifically designed to bring hope, healing and comfort to those who are or have gone through separation and/or divorce. This class is led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. It provides valuable DivorceCare resources to help you deal with what is one of life's most painful experiences, as well as a community of individuals who are also walking the same path. Some of the topics covered in the sessions include: dealing with anger, loneliness and depression, single sexuality, what the Bible has to say about divorce, forgiveness, and more.

Choosing Wisely: Before You Divorce is a five-week program, also produced by the folks at Church Initiative. This program's ultimate goal is reconciliation, and is highly recommended for couples whose marriage is in deep conflict, where divorce or separation has been discussed. Before You Divorce provides a starkly realistic picture of what the break-up of a marriage will do to everything in your life - your children's lives, your finances, your emotional, spiritual and physical health. Before You Divorce is facilitated privately between one couple and the facilitators.

Surviving the Holidays is a two-hour seminar designed with the goal of providing practical information and helpful advice for those separated or divorced—particularly those who find themselves "newly single" again—on the unique changes and difficulties associated with the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays in particular. (The advice can certainly also be applied to other holidays during the year that were significant within your family's history and your marriage.)  Surviving The Holidays will be scheduled annually.
